Sheri Allshouse, CPA

I have specialized in tax for over 21 years, primarily in the real estate industry. I started with the Big-4, then spent several years with a Fortune 500 company working on its IRS audits. During my time with the company, we went from owing the IRS to eventually receiving a refund for the years in question. Then in 1994, I started my own tax firm. After 7 years, I was presented with a tremendous opportunity to work as a CFO for a client that had a residential construction company. I was with the company for 9 years, during which time I built a 6 person accounting department and dealt with as many as 21 banks at one time. In 2011, Kurt and I opened the Allshouse Group. Ever since, I have enjoyed serving the real estate community with tax planning, QuickBooks set-ups, procedure implementations, etc. In my spare time I like investing, learning about all aspects of business (from sales to delivery), and being a tourist in Houston (so much to eat, see, hear and too little time!).

Kurt Allshouse, CPA, CFE

I am an accountant turned homebuilder, turned accountant again. After building 100 custom homes, I realized that my real value to the construction industry would be to help growing builders build a “tight” set of books. My commitment to getting each phase of construction right, before proceeding on to the next one, is a personal value I carried back into the accounting world. I started with the Big-4 as an auditor, then I spent over 20 years working for homebuilders in a variety of capacities, including construction superintendent, purchasing and estimating manager, land development manager, project manager and division president. I enjoy helping real estate and construction companies solve bookkeeping, accounting and operational problems. Outside of work, I occasionally run 5Ks to maintain the discipline and focus I use to help businesses succeed…and to reflect back on my very first day on a construction site, using a porta-potty on a 9 degree day – a long way from accounting class!

While obtaining my undergraduate accounting degree from the University of Houston-Downtown, I worked for a bank and worked for my family’s granite fabrication and installation business as an installer/sales representative. I always enjoyed being able to connect with the customer to understand their needs and concerns, which is something I really enjoy doing with our clients. When I’m not working on tax returns or QuickBooks, I enjoy spending time with my family and attending Houston Dynamo soccer games. And when we can get up a game, I like to kick the soccer ball around with my friends!
